Original photo of Jackie Robinson, taken by noted sports photographer Barney Stein, used in the production of Robinson's 1950 Bowman card. While this photograph is especially significant in its own rite, it is further elevated by the fact that Robinson has signed his name, along with "Best Wishes," across the image. Encapsulated and certified as an original Type I photograph and signature by PSA/DNA. Barney Stein, who worked for the New York Post from 1939 to 1970, was also the official photographer of the Brooklyn Dodgers for over twenty years. Photos used in the production of trading cards, especially those featuring prominent Hall of Famers such as Robinson, have become increasingly popular in recent years. This is one of only a small number of vintage photos we have seen featuring a player image used in the 1950 Bowman set. The photograph (5 x 7 inches) presents extremely well overall, exhibiting light wrinkling and creasing that is so common within the delicate stock used in these original images. This is an iconic image of Robinson and one that should appeal equally to photo, Brooklyn Dodgers, and baseball-card collectors.
